The Earth Engineering Center (EEC) of Columbia University in collaboration with WTERT-Greece/SYNERGIA and AIT Athens Information Technology, are organizing an interdisciplinary event that will focus on state of the art technologies for sustainable waste management.

Columbia University Emeritus Professor Nikolaos J. Themelis, Director of the Earth Engineering Center will lead this one-week intensive course with a team of experts in the sector of waste management from prestigious institutions at both international and national level. 

The 5-day workshop addresses novel practice and evaluates the environmental benefits and impacts and the economic viability of:

Recycling | Waste-to-Energy | Mechanical-Biological Treatment | Composting | Landfilling

This is a challenge for professionals in related industries, working in the environment field throughout the region, for government agencies, companies planning and executing waste projects and researchers, university students, as well as anyone wishing to take advantage of their understanding in this field.
